Mowlem Construction International (UK) Ltd “Mowlem” is dedicated to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking from taking place within its business and supply chain and we place the same expectation on our suppliers.

Mowlem recognises that modern slavery and human trafficking is a violation of the fundamental human rights and is contrary to the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Mowlem is fully committed to preventing unethical labour practices occurring in any part of its business both in the UK and abroad. This Policy applies to all Mowlem’s employees as well as suppliers and joint venture partners who must ensure that both their businesses and supply chains comply with this Policy.

Structure and Supply Chains

Mowlem is a global construction company within the Civil Engineering Sector. The nature of our business requires that we work in conjunction with a range of suppliers and sub-contractors. We will work with our suppliers and sub-contractors and endeavour to ensure that all the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act are complied with.

Due Diligence Processes Relating to Slavery and Human Trafficking

As part of our efforts to monitor, manage and reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring within our business or supply chains, we adopt the following due diligence procedures:

It is the responsibility of Human Resources to ensure that all Foreign Nationals employed by the company in the UK legally and have the legal right to work.

We will ask our suppliers and sub-contractors for a copy of their Modern Slavery Statement and audit those that we consider high risk.

Mowlem will train all relevant staff to understand the risks and issues surrounding modern slavery and human trafficking, how to identify it and appropriate measures to prevent it. This training will be updated periodically.

Every Mowlem employee has an individual responsibility to ensure compliance with this Policy including being alert to the risk of unlawful practices. Any concerns must be reported to the HR department who will investigate and report to the relevant Authorities in the UK and abroad.

We will review our policy periodically and carry out a risk assessment throughout our Company.

Our processes aim to:

Identify, monitor and manage areas of potential risk in our business and supply chains

Scrutinise any identified areas of risk within our business and supply chains

Adopt a zero-tolerance approach to slavery and human trafficking throughout the organisation and our supply chains

Provide support and protection from detriment or disadvantage to any person who, in the public interest, raises genuine concerns amounting to a protected disclosure.

This statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Mowlem Construction International (UK) Ltd slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2023.
