Mowlem is proud to announce its role in the construction of a new 150,000 square-foot arrivals terminal at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Guyana.

The project was launched on August 25, 2025, with a sod-turning ceremony led by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and British High Commissioner Jane Miller, alongside government ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and private sector representatives.

Mowlem will lead the design and construction, which will also include reconfiguring the existing international terminal to meet the rapid growth in passenger numbers and tourism demand.

The event was attended by several senior officials, including Minister of Tourism Oneidge Walrond, Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill, and the Minister of Aviation, who all underscored the importance of the project to Guyana’s growing aviation and tourism industries.

President Ali hailed the project as a critical step in Guyana’s vision to establish itself as a global aviation hub and strengthen its tourism economy. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with delivery planned within 18 months.
